Jaeson Ma spent the past year making the film 1040, about the spread of Christianity in the area known as the “10/40 window”, referring to the area between 10 degrees and 40 degrees North latitude in the Eastern hemisphere. The film covers China, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Indonesia. Jaeson is friends with a lot of entertainers in Asia, so the documentary has a large amount of interviews with stars like Van Ness Wu, Jin Tha MC, and Sean Noh (of Jinusean). The powerful film can get intense, as it shows people talking in tongues, exorcisms. It also contains moving interviews and coverage about missionary activity Asians are doing in places where westerners really can’t go anymore, like in Afghanistan. Visit the film’s website here, where there is info if you have a church you’d like to attend screenings with and see the hard work of these guys culminate on the screen.

Thank you to vickie for the summary and for helping to spread the work of these guys!

when i first saw the title, i was expecting to see some sort of 2012 movie remake (whew thank goodness its not)
but CHRISTIANITY? is the government ok with this? i know there are churches in china because i got to one every sunday no matter which province i am in, but i am not sure how lenient the government can be with this
Um, so if you know there are churches in China (and yeah I’ve been to them too) why are you automatically so “Christianity? in China? D:” idgi
I hope for the rapid spread of Christianity in China, and there is evidence of that already. The government is gradually becoming more lenient.
My view is that China desperately needs Christianity to fill the moral emptiness left there by rampant capitalism. And I say Christianity because it has teachings very similar to Chinese culture. Anyway, way back before Buddhism and Taoism, Chinese worshiped Shangdi. If you look at Chinese characters, there is a ton of Christian symbolism in there too.
God bless China.

RE: “Christian”-symbols
Actually, a lot of so-called Christian symbols (e.g. the cross) and mythology (e.g. virgin birth) all predate Christianity.
Besides, if God wanted the Chinese to be Christian he would have sent his son to China and we would be praying to a guy called Jesus Chang.
