Even before winning the top spot, and 5 million yuan scholarship award from popular show “Migu Star Institute”, MIC had risen up to become a top-ranked idol group with all-rounded talent aspects and high popularity. Although they have yet to officially debut, these boys’ charisma and endless potential have received praises from many medias and fans. Footage broadcasted on the 11th episode of Migu has revealed more unknown hardships these idols have experienced.

This 3-minute long video clip recorded the journey of the forming of the MIC group, including the nation-wide selection process and training sessions in 2006-2007. The broadcast of these “dreadful” scenes has evoked many reactions from its viewers, and many MICrophones (the name of the fans) almost cried out loud at the sight. One of the MICrophones expressed, “These inhumane treatments the boys received can be considered as ‘abuses’, which were unimaginable until broadcasted.”

A man shown in dark sunglasses squirting water with a water gun became a main target of the upset MICrophones. After several investigations his identity was revealed: Madonna’s personal choreographer, “Devil Trainer” Jessie.

Jessie has instructed “Queen” Madonna for many years with his controversial training methods. However, it won’t be a surprise to say that “no pain, no gain”, looking at Madonna’s achieved fame and status in the music industry today. We can say that judging from these images, the well-rounded performances MIC has brought to the stages of Migu is only the result of harsh training received for many years.

Now after enduring the training, and having proven themselves on Migu,  their fans have exceeded 700,000 within a month of the establishment of their official Baidu Tieba. Their company Tai Rye, promises if everything goes smoothly, that MICrophones can hear the first single as early May, with different styles and innovative choreography.

Having already secured an endorsement for LG’s Lollipop, MIC is receiving other many offers since winning Migu. Many magazines like Easy and MILK have already expressed an interest in the band, and it is likely that MICrophones can see their idols again soon.

Yeah! For translating the fan club name as MICrophone instead of Da Mai!

CAN’T WAIT FOR THE SINGLES & ALBUMS & CONCERTS !!!! AHHHHHHHHH!

  2. cMi says:

I think Da Mai does mean Microphone. Or Big Mics…

  3. chikimonki says:

the literal translation of Da Mai is like Barley , but we’ve made MICrophone the official English translation lol

  4. cMi says:

Mai 麦 is a shorthand for Mai Ke Feng 麦克风.

So it’s definitely short for Microphone bc most Chinese people know MIC is short for Microphone, and Chinese fanclub names always play on the names of the artist.

So I think Big Mics, or Microphones is a good translation of the Chinese fanclub name too.

Q: Can we put either a hotter picture of them or one of them doing painful stances or something?

  7. cMi says:

Ok…I don’t like the pictures of them training. Maybe it’s just the sepia tone that the pics are in but it creeps me. And I dunno if that should be the first image people see.

  8. linny says:

  11. [...] April 4, 2010 We first read about this group in a fascinating article in the business section of the entertainment news. In it mainland label Tai Rye talked about the costs of producing a boy band, first spending a year going to various art schools and talent locations in China to select from thousands. Then they picked 50 kids aged 15-17 to go to Beijing and train, eliminating a few each week. Finally, after three years, the group MIC was formed with 6 members, with a long-term investment of millions. Source [...]

omg, finally MIC is debuting, but it’s passed May though?
or am i just not finding them.
anyways, i only see 5 members, so what happened with the 6th member?
but hey, through hardships can you learn to appreciate things and look forward to the success you earn for them…. well that’s what i think.
    thanks for sharing.
