Drama Meteor Shower no doubt raised more than a shower last summer, and the tsunami returns this summer. As its sequel approaches airing on August the 3rd and its current reairing gets top daytime viewerships, Meteor Shower already has its stars working on new projects.
Lead actor Zhang Han will star next to Korean actor Dennis Oh in the Mango Film remake of Autumn in my heart. According to sina, the remake will be more lighthearted and cosmopolitan, but will maintain the serene sadness of the story. Although the female leads are yet to be chosen, Mango Films CEO Li Xiang said that she hopes to give newcomers chances in other important roles in the drama. His puppy movie Hearty Paws 2 will air in Korea on July 22nd.

i didn’t think wei chen would be capable of singing a song like that. but i like disparate…
it should be winter sonata.
And please do not let zhang han be one of the cast.
@yelei
fixed itXD It’s Autumn in my heart, which is one of the biggest kdramas in China because it was aired on CCTV.
Why do you not want Zhang Han to be in the cast? He’s a good actor, and the script should be good.
@idarklight:
if Dennis Oh is going to be in the cast (which I highly doubt!), Zhang Han will probably end up looking as the second main male lead.
This will not make Zhang Han look good.
Basically, the drama is a big soap opera. It requires little acting skill, and just pretty faces.
SSH (forget how to spell his real name), the original male lead is an appallingly bad actor and Song Hyekyo was not good either in the original (btw, this was my first Kdrama. I wanted to see what the fuss was, and I was just amazed at how such a basic production, with little to redeem its flimsy plot besides its pretty leads could get so popular in Asia. It was so bad! just addicting, the way soap operas are)
Since this drama needs no acting skill, Zhang Han won’t show everyone how much more skill he has than Dennis Oh. But Dennis Oh is better looking. So in the end, Dennis Oh will end up looking better. Which is just useless to Hunan TV.
Btw, this is really ironic to me, because Dennis Oh was in the second kdrama I ever saw.
Something about him being undercover or something.
^ I think I know the drama you’re talking about! XD forgot the name though..
I haven’t seen it…
Is the main lead at least nicer than the second lead? Or does it follow the typical kdrama line of having a hotter, less abusive and more perfect second male lead?
I think just having Dennis Oh will definitely overshadow Zhang Han.
@Cmi/Hera: Autumn In My Heart was the first korean drama I saw and I loved it =x.
maybe it’s me but I imagine both lead to be equally manly and powerful, not saying Zhang Han isn’t but I just can’t imagine the main actress picking Zhang Han instead of Dennis Oh.
erm… hunantv needs to introduce some newer male leads
I’m very sorry if I am offending anyone with my description of the drama, because I know this is like, a gateway drama for most people, and part of people’s youth, etc, etc like Huang Zhu Gege or something, and is holds a special place in people’s hearts in that way, so stop reading now, if you fit that description. This is just my impression from memory.
It’s really not that much more than a soap opera, although soap operas have their addicting aspect, which relies more on a basic visceral appeal, than something higher than that. The major difference I think, simply is that Autumn in my Heart ended, whereas most soaps go on forever. It’s not unwatchable, it’s just…a soap, predictable, by-the book etc. It’s just a ridiculously simple storyline and uninspired setup that a remake seems completely unnecessary.
Although they probably can improve its execution. The execution of the kdrama was only average too. From what I remember, the acting was bad except Won Bin showed genuine charm and potential, the dialogue of the script terribly basic, and the cinematography was very average, just used to frame the pretty faces. I was sort of impressed by the music though, since it was only a television series that didn’t seem to have a super high budget.
But to answer your question idarklight, the leads are thus:
Song Hyekyo – perfect, considerate poor girl
SSH – hot, step brother of the girl, very nice, loves her, spends most of his time in an awkward pained expression that’s only bearable because he’s hot
Won Bin – he plays rich friend of SSH, who is kind of a playboy type and charming. omg, he was SO cute in this. I wish he wasn’t so emo now.
So the second lead is not the boring nice one, the main lead is. But it doesn’t really matter, because the characters are really simple. Both are lovable. But neither roles require, nor show off acting talent, so whoever is hottest will win the hearts of the audience. And Dennis Oh is way hotter than Zhang Han, despite being a much worse actor so…
I don’t agree with yelei’s assessment that the main lead needs to be manly and big, because that’s just how SSH looks, it’s not required by the character. Well, he has to carry the main girl in a lot of scenes, but other than that, nah
Zhang Han’s already accumulated a massive fanbase from Meteor Shower, they really should get something else.
@cmi: okay, maybe “manly and big” wasn’t the most appropriate attribute in terms of describing both main leads, but I guess I meant to say the ‘aura’ should somewhat equal for both actors. I guess I just can’t see Zhang Han VS Dennis Oh at all.
i’m no longer making any sense.. =/
oh, I get what you’re saying. Yeah, I like the leads to physically match too, otherwise it’s weird. I even got bothered when the other F4 weren’t the same heights, so I liked that in Meteor Shower it was more balanced. The eye likes symmetry.
I’d love it if Jing Dong could be a lead instead…I can always dream. ;_;
He’d be a good sweet main male lead, and then Yan Kuan could be the good looking playful second lead.
@bomobom
umm… Zhang Han, Zheng Shuang and Zhu Zixiao were all completely new actors when they starred in Meteor Shower. I don’t see why how much more newness you could want. they can’t have a new lead every drama.

So is the lead girl a perfect role for anyone who is decent looking?
————————————————————————————————–
Well, at least Yu Haoming has good role? You Xiaogang’s dramas are generally very addictive and popular, and YHM’s role seems like a character to fall in love with.
[...] That’s right, apparently, the Chinese film industry is doing so well that the Antaneus Group, a major real estate company headed by Beijing Film Academy graduate Zhang Baoquan, decided this year to invest in fifteen films, including the Korean co-production that co-starred Zhang Han - Hearty Paws 2.
