Sealed with a Kiss most successful of a string of internet novel adaptation

Sealed with a Kiss

Hawick Lau and newish actress Ying'er depicts an abusive relationship in Sealed with a Kiss

Remember almost three years ago, when we were so excited that Summer of Bubbles was one of the first internet novel-turned-dramas to be made? Well, Chinese entertainment moves fast, and now they’re all over the place. If you need proof, just look at the Hunan TV. The past three dramas they’ve broadcasted – Tangren’s Bu Bu Jing Xin, Ruby Lin’s Introduction of  a Princess, and Hawick Lau’s Sealed with a Kiss – have all been internet novel adaptations.

Of all of them, Sealed with a Kiss has definitely proven to be the best one by a long shot. With an engaging yet believable script that’s infinitely superior to the fanfic-like novel, the drama tells of an alternative tale from the perspective of  “the third wheel.”  Main character Xue’er is the type of women you would generally want to murder in most dramas – a third wheel in a relationship.  However, she has a tale of her own to tell.   Perfected by the looks and acting of Hawick Lau, Mo Shaoqian is a handsome businessmen who entered into a loveless marriage years ago for business.  Three years ago, he blackmailed Xue’er to be his mistress as a part of a secret revenge plot. Could love blossom in the most unlikely of relationships?

But as you watch the drama, keep in mind a carpe diem: fiction is fiction, and if you meet anyone like Hawick’s character, call the police immediately. Watch it in HD from wthanfu@Youtube here. Of course, it’s not the epitome of filmmaking, and the girl’s wardrobe could be better, but it’s by far one of the best Asian dramas I’ve seen in a year.

Jiang Yingrong releases new MV “Clan of Females

October 30, 2011 | Posted in Mainland China,Music, Tagged

In one of her best looks for a MV since "Realize your beauty," Jiang Yingrong shows off her gorgeous smile.

Singer Jiang Yingrong finally released a MV for her new EP “Clan of Females 女人帮” (Armed doesn’t count). Continuing the themes from most of her MV’s,  the song sends the message of female empowerment and self-realization and satisfaction. Unlike her previous  MV’s that focused on autotone and dancing,  however, this MV is perhaps more of a reflection of the real Jiang Yingrong – confident and always smiling/laughing.  Watch the MV below from :

Top Combine Performs First Hit “Cotton Candy” in Different Dialects

Top Combine, which celebrated its third birthday on the 25th, recently went on variety show Zhong Guo Ai Da Ge Hui. The show was filmed in Chengdu, member Ma Xueyang‘s hometown. He greeted the audience in Sichuanese and later got a chance to show off more of his hometown’s regional dialect as the hosts challenged Top Combine to sing their hit song “Cotton Candy” in their own dialects (or in Jin Ensheng‘s case, Korean).

Watch Zhang Yuan and Li Mao sing (sort of) in the Anhui dialect, Liu Zhoucheng give a stunning performance in Cantonese and Mandarin, Jin Ensheng switch between Korean and Chinese, and Ma Xueyang forget the lyrics he penned himself:

The entire episode, which was split into two weeks, can be seen at YouTube, thanks to puiizTC. Check the forum’s Top Combine thread for links. Some of the fun includes host and Super Boy Wu Yi singing snippets of Top Combine’s songs, Top Combine sharing what the most important quality of being an artiste or entertainer is (Xiao Wu’s answer is priceless), as well as an appearance from Ma Xueyang’s first violin teacher (she started teaching him when he was four!).

The pretty boys of RTA Junior

In a revamp of their variety show Evolution of the Youth, RTA Juniors aired a beautiful cover of Robbie Williams’ Supreme this Sunday.

I think while Xu Hao and Zhu Yuanbing are the cutest as usual, Liu Junlin did the best job in terms of singing this song with the right type of feeling.
