Without a common language, how will this pair of newlyweds interact?

Singer- actor Fu Xinbo has recently gone to Korea to film an episode of We Got Married with girlband T-ara’s Park HyoMin.

As a disclaimer, the available information are that he posted a weibo saying he was filming a show with a wife in Korea, and later another weibo with a picture of him and Park HyoMin, who he introduced as his … (this weibo was later deleted). A Dragon TV editor filming with him also weibo‘ed that Fu Xinbo was paired with a T-ara member.

Another Dragon TV director also weibo‘ed Super Junior’s Kyuhyun will also be filming the show with an unnamed Chinese (?) female celeb.  Rumors are saying they’re filming for a Valentine special, but no credible source could be found.

Li Bingbing and Jun Ji-hyun for Vogue US

Love the fact that they are featured, but the makeup artists in the second picture is about a millennium behind.

In anticipation for the airing of the series “Snow Flower and the Secret Fan,” actresses Li Bingbing and Jun Ji-hyun were featured on the U.S. edition of Vogue magazine.  The film, part in English and part in Chinese, is based on the bestselling English novel of the same name about friendship between two girls connected through a secret female-only script. The film is produced by Wendi Murdoch and directed by Wayne Wang (Joy Luck Club).  Li Bingbing also recently graced the cover of Asian American magazine Audrey. See the photos here.

Laure Shang met with Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper this month in Canada

In addition to performing in California and Montreal and meeting with musicians in New York, multilingual singer  Laure Shang Wenjie also met with the Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Hunter and Nevada governor Lorraine Hunter as a part of her trip to North America this month.  I love Laure Shang to bits, but I have no idea what she would say to him and vice-versa.  I hope Hu Jintao gets a photo op with Lady Gaga soon. Or at least Adam Lambert, if we go the pop idol route.

Edit: Apparently, she has also been greeted by Tony Blair’s wife, European Council President Herman Van Rompuy, and the Belize Royal Family in the past year… Did she go back to being a translator or something?

Christian Bale to star in Zhang Yimou’s Nanking Massacre Film

bale66

“Christian Bale will star in Chinese filmmaker Zhang Yimou’s new project about 13 young prostitutes who help save compatriots from Japanese troops rampaging Nanjing, the latest film exploring a World War II-era atrocity that stirs nationalism in China.

Bale, currently co-starring in the boxing drama “The Fighter,” will portray an American priest in the movie, which is expected to start filming in Nanjing on Jan. 10, the Chinese director told reporters Wednesday.”

The film is based on Yan Geling’s short novel “The 13 beauties of Jinling,” and focuses on the story of a group of prostitutes, a group of wounded soldiers, 46 convent girls and a Catholic priest hidden in a Catholic church in the midst of the Nanking Massacre. When the Japanese army finally knocks on the church’s doors to “invite” the convent girls to sing for them in their camp, the prostitutes chose to dress up as convent girls and go in their place.

While there have been several films on the Nanking Massacre made in the recent years, none of them have been up to par in quality. Hopefully, with his nuanced storytelling and skilled depiction of emotions, Zhang can finally produce a film as major as the event itself.

After iMe and Zhang Jie attended the Mamas, the president of Korean company CJ  Corporation and an important person from Mnet personally met them, and formally invited them to continue developing toward Korea. The CJ Corp president also expressed that Zhang Jie and i Me’s performances were very good, and would definitely be very popular in Korea.   One  Mnet representative stated, “I think iMe has already reached the level of Asian artists. When are you coming to Korea? We will definitely fully support you!”

After hearing this, i Me was humbled and overwhelmed, and hoped that their new album next year definitely wouldn’t let anyone down and that they would double their efforts. After they got the award, iMe stated, “This is the second time we’ve gotten an award, in six months after our debut, and it’s also one that represents music in all of Asia. This makes all five of us girls very excited. The five of us are from three different countries, and have come together because of our common musical dreams. Every artist in today’s award ceremony is a role model to us. We will double our efforts in order to pay back those people who support and cherish us.”

Although their careers haven’t been very long, i Me’s maturity is obvious to all. Backstage, i Me didn’t forget to take this chance to learn, and asked for advice from groups like Big Bang, 2NE1, 2PM, etc. After learning that there were two Chinese members in Miss A, iMe specially encouraged them to jiayou.

The recognition received must be especially gratifying to iMe’s Korean member, Haley Xuan Jing (Shim Hyun Kyung) ,  who had trained in Korea jn SM entertainment for a long time previous to joining iMe. You can see her as a young girl being adorable in this video, rapping with Heechul from Super Junior.

Zhang Jie named Best Asian Artist at Korean Awards

Zhang Jie

Following Rain last year, singer Zhang Jie was named the Best Asian Artist by Korea’s Mnet Asian Music Awards.  His performance at the awards  wow’ed many audiences, and searches for his name rose quickly on Korean search engine Naver. Despite MAMA not being more Korean than Asian, the award is a nice nod to the singer, whose well earned widespread popularity in mainland has yet to spread internationally. In addition to just finishing a concert, Zhang Jie recently released his  latest, much anticipated album, “It’s Love/这,就是爱.” You can download it on Maypay here, and after you realize how pretty it is, but it from Yesasia here. His  juniors in eeMedia,  his shimei, the multinational girlband iMe, who debuted this past summer with Aiiya was also named the best new artist,  encouraging their growth as artists.

Despite being busy with his  concert preparation, promoting his new album, and attending events like MAMA, he still managed to make time for the most important things to him, his friends.  He went to Shanghai  before heading to the Zhuhai/Macau area for MAMA, to visit his friend and shidi Yu Haoming at Ruijin Hospital waiting at the acute care center for a very long time. However, he wasn’t allowed to go into Yu Haoming’s room, and staff could only pass on his hopes for Yu Haoming to get better.
