Chen Chusheng addicted to music in new album

Chen Chusheng

With a guitar and a penetrating voice, Chen Chusheng releases his best album yet.

Chen Chusheng 陈楚生 ‘s voice is an addiction. Again clear and reverberating, the singer-composer’s voice lingers in the mind long after listening to his new album “Addiction.” The album is definitely Chen Chusheng’s best so far, now that his voice is gorgeous again and his music is well-produced.

In the title song, Chen Chusheng contemplates on his efforts in quitting smoking, which he extends to a question of the meaning of life. My favorite of the album is “missing a deserted name 思念一个荒废的名字,” whose name alone is amazing by itself.

Listen to a preview of all the songs in the album below:

Ady An and Chen Chusheng duets for If You Are the One 2

An Yixuan plays three reincarnations of a girl who falls into a forbidden love.

Chen Chusheng and Ady An Yixuan sung a soulful duet of If You Are the One 2 that was extremely well arranged. The song is composed and written by Chen Chusheng, and marks the nth movie theme song he’s sung this year, including for Zhang Yimou’s “Love of the Hawthorn Tree” and Hark Hsu’s “Detective Dee.”
Meanwhile,  Ady An can be seen recently in various other major productions in addition to If You Are the One 2, cementing her place as one of the leading ladies of Huayi. Her presence is visible in both of the major current adaptations of the Four Classical Novels, first as the number one beauty of the “Outlaw of the Marshes – Liu Shishi, and then as the White Boned Queen in The Journey to the West. She will also star in CCTV’s major drama Modern Fight and Love with a Terracotta Warrior. In it, she challenges Gong Li’s role of a modern girl who accidentally wakens a terracotta warrior that have been in love with her for thousands of years.

"The Message" Theme Song by Chen Chusheng Released

Long time no see Chen Chusheng. When we last left him, he had disappeared, unhappy with eeMedia.  Now he’s turned up again  in the MV for the Message‘s Theme Song, looking gaunt and singing a song that doesn’t seem to quite fit his voice. Although I suppose it’s a bit more suited to him than the Shampoo commercials (yes, seriously) he had to do with eeMedia.

His pathos certainly reflects the state of the characters in the movie, whom all seem to be tortured, psychologically or physically. This will be a tragedy and Chen Chusheng the Greek chorus.

We just hope that this doesn’t carrying over into real life, where Hua Yi has announced they will sign him, and with a six year contract at the minimum. While I’m happy for Chen Chusheng, and would love to hear more of his compositions, this announcement doesn’t bode well for Hua Yi-eeMedia relations.

Everything about the New Meteor Garden is still undecided, so here are the latest “news” flying around. The announcing of the casting of F4 has been moved back again, but the female lead has been chosen. She’s a nineteen-year-old from the Beijing Film Institute. The story will be significantly changed, with different names and backgrounds of each of the characters. For example, Rui might play the piano instead of the violin. Being forever Chinese, the drama will also be less violent and more inspirational. Domyouji has pretty much been confirmed as not from the Super Boys. But of course, as CFensi should’ve pounded into you by now, you can’t always trust what you read.

"Has anyone told you" that Chen Chusheng disappeared on New Year's Eve?

Chen Chusheng's self-composed "Has anyone told you" was downloaded 16,564,460 times through China Mobile last year. That's 12 million downloads more than its runner-up, Jay Chou's "Rainbow,"more than one third of all of Jay Chou's downloads (36 million) and more than all SHE songs combined(14 million).

Although you can hear Chen Chusheng’s voice on at least 16 million cellphones in China, you won’t hear it on Chen Chusheng’s own cellphone, which has been turned off since the night he disappeared on New Year’s Eve.

In the midst of  good news for him, including winning the award for the most popular ringtone song, coming out with his new single, and and being praised by Han Hong as the one young artist she liked, Chen Chusheng disappeared during the rehearsals right before Hunan TV’s New Year Concert. He told his assistant he was going to the bathroom, and was never seen again. EE Media says that they have contacted his friends and family, but no one reported knowing where he is.

Hunan TV will remake Hana Yori Dango/ Meteor Garden

Using the “Superboys”.

I’ll update this post and this site with more details as I get them.

I was always wondering if mainland China would film its own Hana Yori Dango. If you follow mainland Chinese television, you quickly come to find that there are the state-wide CCTV productions, which like expensive big-budget series with casts that attended drama universities, etc and then there are the provincial productions like Hunan TV who don’t get quite as much money, but don’t have the restraints CCTV does, about providing moralistic drama with meaning, etc. If China were to have a large amount of meaningless idol dramas, they would come from these local, provincial level stations. So here we are, at the possibility of Hunan remaking Meteor Garden using their “Superboys” aka “Kuai Le Nan Sheng” (the Chinese American Idol-type series for those of you who don’t get my constant references to this).
