Painted Skin sequel Painted Mural 画壁 released several trailers recently. One definite improvement from the previous version is the way more gorgeous sets and colors. The theme song, by the leads Sun Li and Deng Chao, has also been released and can be watched here.
I was pleasantly surprised at how much of Zheng Shuang, who’s as cute as ever, there are in the trailers. Watch one of the trailers below and tell me what you think.

Deng Chao and Sun Li on their love for L’Officiel

Deng Chao and Sun Li takes a busy break from their upcoming works - film "Painted Mural" plus a baby
Although the two has been legally married for year, actors Deng Chao and Sun Li’s wedding and announcement of a child in the comings brought at a smile love and marriage. Translation by genna@cfensi.
L’OFFICIEL: What do you both feel is the most important to learn and abide by in a marriage?
Sun Li: Love is between two people, while marriage is between two families. So, I feel you have to learn to trust and to have tolerance. Both husband and wife should be honest to each other; we use the same password for both of our email accounts. There are no secrets between us, but this causes some trouble at times, such as when we want to plan something romantic, it then becomes quite difficult.
Deng Chao: I don’t like the term ‘managing love’, to ‘manage’ is something you would have to do deliberately. As long as you’re willing to understand each other’s opinions and consider for their sake, that’s the best way for a married couple to get along.
Paradise and hell merges in Painted Mural
The real Painted Skin sequel, Painted Mural, released its first teaser today. Other than starring the newlyweds Deng Chao and Sun Li in their first film together, the film also impresses with its sets. Built from ground up, the set is meant to evoke a feeling of fairyland for the cast and for the viewer. The story, set in a mural world created by author Pu Songling, comprises of both a paradise and a hell that’s only a thought apart.
According to director Gordon Chan, the film also uses techniques of Chinese watercolors (like the cfensi header!). See the animated concept trailer below from sinapremium@YouTube and concept art of the set below the cut:

Congratulations to the newlyweds! More pictures here, thanks to Jo.
Deng Chao and Sun Li officially married, to host wedding this year
Actor Deng Chao revealed to the press that he and actress Sun Li had received their marriage certificate on his birthday in February last year, and hopes to have a wedding late this year. The two had previously filmed two series together – Happiness is like a flower 幸福像花儿一样 and Sweet 甜蜜蜜, and stars in the upcoming film Painted Mural 画壁 (a sequel to Painted Skin).
Sun Li said that because of her parents’ divorce, she had never believed in love before meeting Deng Chao. Deng Chao once dedicated a best actor award to Sun Li, saying that “It’s your love and support that allowed me to continue to bravely work in this field. I love you.”
Other than their good looks and innate charm, Deng Chao and Sun Li are two of the kindest artists around. Sun Li is already known for her helping stray pets, and Deng Chao has participated in numerous nonprofit works. Sun Li recalls that once, before they were dating, a driver in their production was hurt and the team decided to donate money to help pay for his hospital fees. Sun Li asked him how much he was going to donate. Deng Chao told her to wait, opened up his suitcase, took out all the money, kept a small bill for the cab back, and donated everything else.
Congratulations, Sun Li and Deng Chao!

The post begun as a look at the environment through entertainment, but I then realized that there were too many and yet too little things to count. What really matters is how we take those messages and make it our own. Here’s some of the messages that celebrities have recently sent out, what will you do with them?

Actor Deng Chao Goes to New Zealand for a Book, and Italy for Fashion Show

Deng Chao released his first book of the series Super and Superman: Magical Life in the Movie Kingdom, and will hold the initial release, as well as a book signing event at major Beijing bookstore – Wang Fujing . After nearly a year, Deng Chao and the first “Superman”, Wang Zhongjun, CEO of Chinese mega film company Huayi Brothers, will share the cultures, customs, and landmarks of New Zealand to its readers. The main focus of the book will be on the details of New Zealand’s theater and movie arts, which includes interviews with the renowned Weta Workshop, where the special effects were created not only for classics like Lord of the Rings, Chronicles of Narnia, King Kong, but also for the recent globally popular movie Avatar.

Deng Chao Sings the HSDS 2009 Themesong
Deng Chao never fails to impress, and now in addition to his acting, I’m quite enjoying his singing, especially since I know he does good lives too. His series, the Zhang Jizhong-directed Heavenly Sword Dragon Sabre, has suddenly begun airing in China without any press and indeed it seems to be a bit rushed through post-production. But it’s the first wuxia series that I’ve gotten into because Deng Chao is just that good of an actor. And he’s no Jane Zhang (who sadly, only gets crappy themesongs now that she’s no longer with Hua Yi), but I think he makes the themesong quite nice to listen to.

You can watch all aired episodes here. I’d skip 1-10 because the quality actors (Deng Chao and Ady An) don’t appear until after that. All four of Zhang Wuji’s loves seem to be decently acted too, so if you’re like me, and you don’t want to feel ashamed anymore for not knowing what the hell Jing Yong writes about, give it a go.
Chinese FilmStars at the Pusan and Tokyo Film Festivals and the Golden Rooster
China’s Film Stars are spread out all over Asia! I decided to do a quick photo post to locate all of them…first is Pusan, because not that many Chinese people that went, and also it came first chronologically, so it’s easier to just get it out of the way.
