HIT-5 Releases “Running’ Teaser; Miraculously Escapes KBS’s Cpop Cutting Spree Alive

HIT-5 has hit the ground Running with their newest EP, with a steady of press releases, fan meet and even an appearance at the Korea-China Friendship Concert in Seoul all before having released their single. Unfortunately for them was that the friendly  exchange concept of the  concert was lost on Korean broadcaster, KBS, and much of their performance was cut. The good news was that they were one of the few who were aired out of the many Cpop acts, despite being one of the least famous.  Fellow boyband  Top Combine,  got cut out completely. This led fans of both groups to lament with each other and vent their frustrations at KBS, questioning their motives. Not only were the idol acts cut out, but even famous veterans like Han Hong, Li Jian, Wang Feng and Yang Kun were not shown.

However, HIT-5 has the New Artists Feng Yun Bang awards to look forward to where they are nominated for best new group (since they only first released an album this summer).

HIT-5′s New MV Directed By BoA’s Brother; Yang Fan Shares Kiss With Korean Girlgroup Member

HIT-5 filmed two MVs in Korea recently, one for their upcoming dance single Running and Afraid of You (怕了你) .  Running has an environmental protection theme, while  their other has  a romantic one.  Member Yang Fan takes on the role of male lead in it, while Minah from Korean group Girl’s Day guests as his love interest.  They share a kiss scene in the MV. Their director for the MV was BoA’s brother Kwon Soonuk. Next, while still in Seoul, they will be performing at the Korea-China friendship concert being held there this year. They hope to release the EP, also titled Running in late December. Their new EP comes only half a year after their first album, a quick release for Cpop. They seem to be making up for the time they lost when they switched companies early on. Hopefully they can gain success now that they have a solid foundation to push forward from.

A/N:  I can’t tell whether BoA’s brother is the director for both MVs, or just ‘Afraid of You”.

December Jammed With Releases From The Male Side of Cpop

Kimi in the MV for Window of Dreams on his upcoming album

Releases from mainland female Chinese artists were spread out throughout this year, but a considerable portion of the male side seem to have waited until the last minute to release, causing an massive pileup of both albums from the soloists to the boybands, ranging from pop to grunge. Despite the spectrum in musical styles, this still can’t be good for the artists, nor the companies  involved which I listed alongside the artists, and as you can see, there’s a lot.

Most dramatic series of the year goes to…

..Super Girls?

elle2 panhongyue

Pan Hongyue may seem pompous, but she has our respect for not hiding her disgust at the judges after the 15to10 competition.

Meteor Shower seems to have already lost the dramatic category before it even started. Super Girls’ scriptwriters are probably way better. What other drama has the music, the dancing, the pretty girls, the tears, the triumphs, the unsung heroes, the evil henchmen, and of course, the righteous Judge Bao (somebody on baidu tried to link his heritage to Judge Bao Qingtian) like Super Girls?

Friday’s Super Girls’s defining moment was Bao Xiaobo’s comments after Li Xiaoyun played the guitar for her song:

Li Xiaoyun, you know, on this stage, playing the guitar on this stage is very dangerous. But I want to thank you for reminding me of someone. Her name is Wang Zhixin, and she once sung a song called Match Heaven. I once said her music striked straight into the heart. I want to thank her and thank you.

I cried the moment he mentioned Wang Zhixin. But wow, if last week’s comment about “protective forces” wasn’t direct enough, this week’s comment about the guitar is way too obvious. (He’s hinting at the fact that Wang Zhixin got kicked out so she wouldn’t compete with Zeng Yike as the guitars).

The person who took the heat of the blame for making anyone but Zeng Yike playing the guitar being in danger is the outspoken Gao Xiaosong, who we first became familiar with after he told HIT-5 their song was “outdated” and that “mainland music wasn’t pure because they don’t have enough coastal lines.” It turns out that MT-muzik, the songwriters behind HIT-5′s “Say U love me again” and “I want you to know” actually wrote a song in response to him, titled “Hello, Gao Xiaosong.” It’s well-written, if unpolished.
