Weibo of the day: Hu Ge’s weibo interview with fans

November 23, 2011 | Posted in Mainland China,weibo, Tagged , , ,

More like “weibo’s” of the day.  Actor Hu Ge did a weibo interview today, where he responded to questions on relationships, acting, dreams and clothing options in his latest weibo interview. Some of the exchanges have been translated, with notes in italics by me.
Note that Yu Wentuo and Chen Jingchou are the main male characters in the upcoming drama Xuanyuan Sword: Scar of Heaven, which is produced by and stars Hu Ge as Yu Wentuo. Chen Jingchou, the main character in the original game, is played Hu Ge’s Shanghai Drama and Tangren shidi, newcomer Jiang Junfu.

Q: Like Yu Wentuo, Hu Ge is also a multifaceted person. If you met your other half, which side of you will show her? …..
A: I’ll use my side look to attract her, use my front side to hug her, and use my back side to protect her.

Q: Do you have any pressure due to how similar Lin Gengxin is to you?
A: I don’t have any pressure. The one with pressure should be my dad. Hahaha

Q: Since coming into the acting circle, have you met any roadblocks? Someone that looks like you should be the focal point everywhere, right?
A: How I look is like my business card, what I become is the real me.

Scar of Heaven releases teaser trailer

Wallace Huo left her for Liu Shishi in Strange Hero, so Tang Yan takes comfort in Hu Ge's arms. Scar of Heaven will be Hu Ge and Tang Yan's second project together as lovers.

The leads of Scar of Heaven recently assembled for a press conference, where Shanghai Tangren unveiled a five-minute teaser.

Hu Ge does not rely completely on his face to feed himself. In addition to playing a lead character in Scar of Heaven, Hu Ge has also invested in the series. A host at the conference asked if that meant Hu Ge would have more decision-making power when it came to things like casting, but Hu Ge stated that it was absolutely forbidden to have covert dictations like that. He also said that acting would remain his priority.Like the Chinese Paladin dramas, Scar of Heaven will be directed by Li Guoli. Fans are calling Scar of Heaven and Chinese Paladin “the double swords.”

Qi Wei Pens and Sings New Song for Drama “Unbeatable”

August 4, 2011 | Posted in Mainland China,Music,Television, Tagged , , ,

A gorgeous cast and captivating characters -- will you be watching?

Airing this Saturday is Hu Ge‘s second modern drama this year, Unbeatable, in which he plays a high-achieving sales market executive who finds himself deceived and betrayed by a trusted business partner. As he struggles to get his working situation back in order, his love life also starts becoming tangled — a predicament many of the other characters find themselves in as well.

In addition to playing a good friend of Hu Ge’s character, Qi Wei wrote one of the drama’s insert songs. Titled “Between Black and White,” the song brings to mind a girl sitting at the piano, trying to come up with a song that will express her longing for that special someone. As she plays chords, a vibrantly colored song spills out between the black and white keys.

After her emotional delivery in My Daughter‘s ending theme, Loved You Too Much, Qi Wei does not disappoint with her performance in this new song. She duets with Van Fan, another actor in Unbeatable. Watch the drama MV below, thanks to fountainpark723.

Hu Ge fans will also be pleased to learn that, apart from wearing a lot of suits in this drama, Hu Ge sings the opening theme, “Master.”

Hu Ge mischievous once again after playing more mature roles in Modern New Species and Shangri-la.

“Don’t bother me, I won’t be a hero.” It’s a bit strange hearing this come from the star of Chinese Paladin 1 and 3, but that’s the theme song Hu Ge sang for Tangren’s  minimovie fore upcoming video game “Return to the Duke of Mount Deer.” The song is composed by  Yan Yidan, who also did the Meteor Shower OST and Happy Camp album.  The  minimovie, which stars Liu Shishi and Nicky Wu of BuBuJingXin, is set to come out at the same time as the game. Watch the MV below from fountainpark723@YouTube

Hu Ge becomes “unbeatable” in new modern series

July 6, 2011 | Posted in Television, Tagged , ,

Hu Ge’s latest role is a deviation from the characters that he usually plays. In his new drama, “Unbeatable”, Hu Ge goes from the somewhat childishly foolish but righteous Li Xiaoyao of Chinese Paladin or Guo Jing, to the calculating and mature Xu Ran. (More on “Unbeatable.”)

Meanwhile, his co-star Tang Yan brings with her the familiar My Daughter cast of Roy Qiu, Jones Xu and Qi Wei. This time, however, she won’t be lovers nor sisters with them, and will instead be paired with Hu Ge.
