Wei Chen, Lu Hu directs and films new MV “Gentle Memories”

June 16, 2011 | Posted in Mainland China,Music, Tagged ,

Is it just me or is this self-directed/filmed/edited MV much better than his other ballad MV in the album?

Directed, filmed and edited by Wei Chen and Lu Hu themselves, and composed by Lu Hu with lyrics by Wei Chen,  Wei Chen’s “Gentle Memories 温存记忆” MV was released as a birthday present from Wei Chen to Lu Hu. Althought it has been released for a while, the MV was never advertised as it’s not official.  Wei Chen is currently preparing for his second album and becoming way too thin from practicing for it.

P.S. someone on YouTube has recently uploaded English subbed MV’s of Wei Chen’s Disparate 千方百计 and I want to love 我想爱 from his last album. Yay for English subs!

Keai Zhang Hai

Meteor Shower and Fall in Love actor Zhang Han released a new single as the spokesperson for videogame “Adventure of Light/NosTale.” Although he graduated from the Central Drama Academy majoring in acting, Zhang Han is serious about his music. In one instance on Happy Camp, where lipsynching is expected even of vocal masters like Wang Leehom, Zhang Han requested to sing live. The song is composed by fellow eeMedia artist Lu Hu, who had previously composed Zhang Han’s “Retrieving memories” song for the Meteor Shower OST.

The young actor and singor Yu Haoming turned 23 on Sunday the 14th. eeMedia stars, many of them his closest friends,  wished him a Happy Birthday and a successful recovery with cards.  Yu Haoming and Selina are currently hospitalized after an explosion accident on the set of “I Have a Date of Spring.” At the time, he courageously tried to save Selina, but both were seriously burnt, and both are still undergoing recovery.

Wei Chen new album Disparate sold out across the country

While practicing for Disparate, Wei Chen unintentionally lost 10 pounds.

The album Disparate’s Chinese name 千方百计 means “using thousands of ways to do something.” And that’s exactly what his fans have to do to get Vision Wei Chen’s new album, which is sold out at many stores across China since its release five days ago despite his fanclub urging fans to order the first three copies online. His company eeMedia assured fans that the production company is currently working overtime to produce a second stock of the albums.

At his two signing events, too, his albums were sold out. In Beijing, the 4000 albums that the host provided sold out quickly and they had to get 2000 more albums elsewhere. Even then, so many fans could not get albums to sign that Beijing fans are taking over several cars of a train to attend his signing event in Tianjing.

Despite its title song, Disparate is still mostly ballads, including two self-compositions by Wei Chen (Meteor Shower Come Again/流星雨又来临 and 二十三/23), as well as two others with lyrics by him (I don’t cry and Keeping Memories/温存记忆). Wei Chen’s bff Lu Hu also composed four songs for the album – Lunatic’s Wishes/疯人愿, Keeping Memories/温存记忆, I want to Love/我想爱 and Dream’s Blossoming 梦的怒放. Other songs include Chinese-styled fast song Female Detective/ 女捕快, sunshine pop Sunflower’s smile/ 向日葵的微笑 and soft song Passerby/过客 and song for his fans Sweet and Sour/酸酸甜甜

Strands of Love promises romantic scenes and beautiful hair

Screen caps from the opening of Si Si Xin Dong

In the recently released trailers for new drama Si Si Xin Dong/Strands of Love (丝丝心动) , the beautifully romantic scenes immediately won accolades from fans. The drama, the first new script by romance queen Qiong Yao (Huan Zhu Ge Ge, Romance in the Rain, Dreams Link, etc) since Huan Zhu Ge Ge 3 in 2003, stars Qiong Yao favorite Zhang Jiani and actor Blue Lan and will air on Hunan TV in July.

The cinematography for the drama is one of the most romantic for an Asian idol drama I’ve seen in a while, as fitting for a Qiong Yao drama.
Unfortunately, I can’t get it on YouTube, so here’s the Tudou version:

Si Si Xin Dong tells of a love that really begins with using the right shampoo. A country  girl who followed her dreams of being a TV host to Shanghai, Zhang Xiaorou (Zhang Jiani) moves in to her new rented home with her best friend. Except it turns out that their new home was actually rented out secretly by the actual owner’s goofy friend (Super Boy Lu Hu). Still recovering from the disappearance of his love Lu Tian’er (Ying’er), the real owner, Ouyang Chen (Blue Lan) , returns home to see Tian’er’s room lighted. The familiar glossy hair and scent (of shampoo) makes him think Tian’er has returned, and he goes forward to hug the girl facing away from him, only to find a half-naked stranger in his embrace. …

In the whirlwind of Shanghai,  Xiaorou is caught between her pursuit of her dreams as a star and the wishes of her father for her to inherit the family restaurant as well as between the tender support of her coworker Andy and the insecure romance that blossoms between her and Chen.

Beside the prettiness of the drama, I’m highly impressed by how well Hunan TV is doing with product placements. Despite Meteor Shower’s awkward commercials, both Ugly Wudi and this seem to have successfully used the product to enhance the plot of the story rather than deter from it. After all, if the main character has to make a commercial for  something anyways in the series, why not make a shampoo commercial?

Meteor Shower cast begins work on new projects – new drama, new album and Autumn in my heart remake

Yu Haoming in Fireworks

Yu Haoming for the movie short Fireworks

Drama Meteor Shower no doubt raised more than a shower last summer, and the tsunami returns this summer. As its sequel approaches airing on August the 3rd and its current reairing gets top daytime viewerships, Meteor Shower already has its stars working on new projects.

Lead actor Zhang Han will star next to Korean actor Dennis Oh in the Mango Film remake of Autumn in my heart. According to sina, the remake will be more lighthearted and cosmopolitan, but will maintain the serene sadness of the story. Although the female leads are yet to be chosen, Mango Films CEO Li Xiang said that she hopes to give newcomers chances in other important roles in the drama. His puppy movie Hearty Paws 2 will air in Korea on July 22nd.

Blue Lan and Zhang Jiani for “Si Si Xin Dong”

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Zhang Jiani and Blue Lan posed for Xingrui for their upcoming Hunan TV- drama Si Si Xin Dong. Si Si Xin Dong will air in March, probably following the Ugly Wudi Finale.

The series tells of Zhang Xiaorou (Zhang Jiani), a Qingdao girl who goes to Shanghai to work for a TV station. There, her beautiful hair (be ready for Meteor Shower-esque shampoo commercials) catches the eye of Ouyang Chen (Blue Lan), a romantic and sweet cafe owner. While drama occurs in the TV station, where Xiaorou’s talents brings her to the front of the camera and brought her the love of her boss and jealousy of another host, trouble occurs at home as Hou Qisheng (Super Boy Lu Hu) secretly rents out Ouyang Chen’s apartment to Zhang Xiaorou.

And all this trouble could’ve been avoided if only she had tried out for Hunan station instead of a Shanghai one.

Lu Hu Composes for Top Combine's 1st Album

November 19, 2009 | Posted in Mainland China,Music, Tagged ,

TC: Thanks Lu Hu...sorry you haven't gotten your own album yet. It's not our fault...we Love you dearly though. Ma Xueyang: Hey I composed a hit song for these guys too, don't look at me

Tian Yu/eeMedia really hit the jackpot when they signed on Superboy Lu Hu. Despite not having the best voice, he  so far has composed hits for his fellow  Wei Chen, Jiang Yingrong, and Zhang Jie, and has induced many members of the eeMedia family to also begin composing. Now for Top Combine’s comeback, he wrote their first single, “Qi Tian Da Cheng”, which alludes to the most internationally recognized  of China’s Four Classics - Journey to the West, and the “Monkey King” choreography reflects that theme. In addition traditional Chinese instruments were used, such as the pipa.
