Music Series “Dare” hits off with a tale of condoms

September 13, 2011 | Posted in Mainland China,Movies,Music, Tagged , , ,

2011 Super Girl Lu Yi and Jiang Chao dares you to watch their film.

Do you dare?   The  2011 Super Girls’ music movie series certainly does, featuring the tale of a girl with a strange hobby – collecting condoms – in its first film.  The mini film, titled “Feeling of Safety,” is the first of a series of music movies designed for the top 10 Super Girls this year.  Famous director Zhang Yibai (Eternal Moment) is the producer for the series, and up-and-rising young directors film the actual movies.

Despite the bold subject, the first film, which stars Super Girl Lu Yi and 8090′s Jiang Chao,  plays out to be a rather traditional love story. Nevertheless, the creative storytelling by director Zhou Nan makes the film interesting.

To me, one highlight of the film was the narration. Lu Yi and Jiang Chao plays a pair of childhood friends afraid to trust and love. Neither has lines. Instead, their story is told through three voices – that of host He Jiong and of the childhood versions of the two characters that act as their voices.

Up next is Yu Jiali’s short film, followed by that of Fu Mengni (guest starring Wu Yi).

Sigh…because of this site I have so many movies, dramas that I am looking forward to , that I may not actually have time to watch. “Lian Ai Ba” is one of them. I have a lot of affection for all of the actors, and it’s nice to see a mature modern day romance about adults refinding love. So even if I’m a little wary of the first-time director, I will definitely be following  this. And Chen Kun and Lu Yi in suits? Just two words: So shuai!

Fusion Band

After being inactive for half a year, Fusion will be back with a second album. When asked why the long absence, their company said that they’ve been concentrating on their next album which is reaching the end stages of its production. Now they’ll be starting performances again to warm up for their new release.

This is probably the best music news in this batch, the rest are just sad ones about company matters.

"Lian Ai Ba" Begins Production

L-R Director, Chen Kun, Yuan Quan, Debbie Goh, and Lu Yi

Remember when I said Chen Kun and Yuan Quan were going to star in something? Well, production commenced, and the other two cast members are Lu Yi and Debbie Goh! That’s quite a cast, and those first three names are all so good at singing that I’m crying that this isn’t a musical.  But that’s okay, because it’s a romantic comedy, which isn’t a genre I’m adverse to. “Liang Ai Ba” (Dating) is based off a hugely popular novel about a love triangle between a divorced woman, her ex-husband and his best friend. Go below for synopsis and some pictures from filming.

Chen Kun and Yuan Quan sponsor a jewelry brand in style at an event, with Yuan Quan in white riding a horse, and Chen Kun giving her a ring, like a modern day prince and princess, except that pretending to  marry was really awkward for them. Normally I wouldn’t care, but it’s two actors that I like, both of which whom actually have really nice singing voices and I’ve long wished they would collaborate in something like a musical. They will be working together, but instead will be in a HK film.
