A remake of the most viewed East Asian drama of all times, New My Fair Princess/Huan Zhu Ge Ge released its second long trailer today, this time showing more characters like Mongolian Princess Saiya and Ruby Lin’s Xia Yuhe. The series uses the actors original voices, and is projected to air on Hunan TV in July or August.

Qing Shi Huang Fei releases first trailer
The first production by Ruby Lin, Qing Shi Huang Fei 倾世皇妃, released its first trailer today . Although I’m not a fan of the book, the trailer looks really good, with pretty costumes and setting as well as eyecandy from the handsome Yan Kuan, Wallace Huo and Mao Zijun.
The drama is set to air on Hunan TV later this year. Trailer below thanks to lalalaiTzME@YouTube
New Huan Zhu Ge Ge begins filming, Ruby Lin to guest star
The new Hunan TV/ShineShow Huan Zhu Ge Ge adaptation begun filming on the 15th. The new drama, which will have about 30 episodes, is re-written by author Qiong Yao, with the main change being the addition of a Western artist called Benjamin who falls in love with female lead Xiao Yanzi. Although there have been no official news releases of the cast, several pictures has leaked out of filming. The playful Xiao Yanzi is said to be played by actress Li Sheng, who is fairly experienced in acting. She plays Mike He’s little sister in the currently airing Calling For Love. Shanghai Film Academy graduate Hailu is suppose to be the elegant princess Xia Ziwei. Ruby Lin, who played Ziwei in the original series, also guest stars as Xia Yuhe, Ziwei’s mother.
As stated previously, the new drama is in part because of the introduction of HD TV. Since HZGG is a stable high-rated show for Hunan TV every year, and they hope to continue air the show, but with more modern filming.
Picture of the Three Leading Ladies of "Mei Ren Xin Ji"
I don’t have much time, but I really wanted to post something happy so have a cute picture. Mei Ren Xin Ji (Schemes of a Beauty) may have tons and tons of guest stars including Qi Wei of the previous post, Gong Mi of Cecilia Cheung look-a-like fame, and not to mention previously mentioned Yan Kuan, whose fans are currently getting together to send him a package to celebrate his 10th anniversary as an actor (send a message to everwinding@yt if you want to write him a note).
However, the three leading ladies, Yang Mi, Wang Likun, and of course Ruby Lin, are its stars, and their camaraderie on set is depicted in this photo. Filming just recently ended, on the 15th, and it is set to begin airing sometime in the first half of 2010. Ruby Lin looked like she had a blast leading the ensemble in all the pictures and I can’t wait to see what she did with the famous Empress Dou Yifang character (affectionately called Dou Dou on set).
Pictures of Yan Kuan in "Mei Ren Xin Ji"
This post is for the Yan Kuan lovers out there who commented on my only other post on him, and surprised me that people know him and love him despite not knowing any Chinese and not having subs for anything of his. Since then, I’ve been paying more attention to his upcoming projects, and sadly there hasn’t been anything worth noting, not even this, Mei Ren Xin Ji, because he’s only a guest star, as a favor to his Shanghai Theatre Academy colleague Yu Zheng, the producer and scriptwriter of the series. But at least there are lots of nice pics with the lead actresses Ruby Lin and Wang Likun from his blog.
"Mei Ren Xin Ji" and "Di Ren Jie" Concept Art
Let’s indulge in one of my favorite aspects of the movie/drama making process which is the concept art (the non-CG concept art). There is a simple beauty in the sketches of the characters. A few strokes of a pencil, and it becomes the first visualization of a full-fledged character. “Mei Ren Xin Ji“ (translates roughly to Calculating Beauties) which is a 50 million yuan drama production revolving around three shrewd women, the much coveted lead role played by Ruby Lin, and two secondary female leads played byWang Likun (Infernal Lovers) and Yang Mi (Chinese Paladin 3).
News Roundup 7/2/09 – 7/11/09
This is a really big post, so check it out !
Chen Kun and Yuan Quan sponsor a jewelry brand in style at an event, with Yuan Quan in white riding a horse, and Chen Kun giving her a ring, like a modern day prince and princess, except that pretending to marry was really awkward for them. Normally I wouldn’t care, but it’s two actors that I like, both of which whom actually have really nice singing voices and I’ve long wished they would collaborate in something like a musical. They will be working together, but instead will be in a HK film.

Sophie's Revenge Cast Promote Website Launch
The Chinese/Taiwanese cast members of Sophie’s Revenge minus Fan Bingbing who was probably busy with one of her six upcoming movies, helped launch the official site for the movie yesterday.
Included on the websites is Sophie’s Revenge first teaser trailer. This was released at Cannes, and it did a pretty good job because the rights were sold to five countries. Although it’s not featured here, Cao Xuanbin will be writing the theme song. Can’t wait to see how will make it reflect the feel of this film.

A few more pictures from the launch and some new HQ stills from the movie below. The latter is my real reason for making this post.
