Wallace Huo’s new time-travel comedy is released

February 4, 2012 | Posted in Movies, Tagged ,

Wallace Huo isn't the only one who travels back and forth in time.

Not long ago, Wallace Huo’s new movie “Super Dimensional Reinforcements 超时空救兵” began to show in theaters. In addition to looking adorkable, Wallace Huo’s character is an aspiring author who wrote “The Legend of Shi Kejin.” The publisher scoffs at Wallace’s work and, during a meteor shower, Wallace is suddenly transported back to the Tang. There, he meets his idol Shi Kejin (played by Dyland Kuo) himself, as well as Shi Kejin’s little sister (played by Jing Tian)…Poet Li Bai also appears, played by the director, Lin Zicong.

Stills from the film can be found under the cut. Watch a one minute trailer here.

Weibo of the day: Hu Ge’s weibo interview with fans

November 23, 2011 | Posted in Mainland China,weibo, Tagged , , ,

More like “weibo’s” of the day.  Actor Hu Ge did a weibo interview today, where he responded to questions on relationships, acting, dreams and clothing options in his latest weibo interview. Some of the exchanges have been translated, with notes in italics by me.
Note that Yu Wentuo and Chen Jingchou are the main male characters in the upcoming drama Xuanyuan Sword: Scar of Heaven, which is produced by and stars Hu Ge as Yu Wentuo. Chen Jingchou, the main character in the original game, is played Hu Ge’s Shanghai Drama and Tangren shidi, newcomer Jiang Junfu.

Q: Like Yu Wentuo, Hu Ge is also a multifaceted person. If you met your other half, which side of you will show her? …..
A: I’ll use my side look to attract her, use my front side to hug her, and use my back side to protect her.

Q: Do you have any pressure due to how similar Lin Gengxin is to you?
A: I don’t have any pressure. The one with pressure should be my dad. Hahaha

Q: Since coming into the acting circle, have you met any roadblocks? Someone that looks like you should be the focal point everywhere, right?
A: How I look is like my business card, what I become is the real me.

The first production by Ruby Lin, Qing Shi Huang Fei 倾世皇妃, released its first trailer today . Although I’m not a fan of the book, the trailer looks really good, with pretty costumes and setting as well as eyecandy from the handsome Yan Kuan, Wallace Huo and Mao Zijun.

The drama is set to air on Hunan TV later this year. Trailer below thanks to lalalaiTzME@YouTube

Wallace Huo, Liu Shishi and Ma Tianyu with their manga figures in the series

As time approaches the airing of Strange Hero Yi Zhi Mei in January, its opening theme by Hu Ge was released. As mentioned before, one specialty of the series is its use of manga strips to illustrate the series, making the wuxia story somewhat like a Western super hero. This is actually the second time production company Tangren has done this, with the first time being Wallace Huo’s 2003 series Westside Story. Coincidentally, the Korean adaptation Iljimae was actually adopted from a Korean manga that took the Ming dynasty tale of Yi Zhi Mei and made him Korean.

Strange Hero Yi Zhi Mei proves its quality by airing movie trailer in theaters

Wallace Huo plays Yi Zhi Mei's leader Li Gexiao, a former royal guard tricked into being an outlaw.

In addition to adding a comic book punch to the classic wuxia legend of Robinhood -like Yi Zhi Mei, Strange Hero Yi Zhi Mei (怪侠一枝梅) furthered its originality by being the first TV series to release an in-theaters film as a 60-min trailer. The drama, starring Wallace Huo, Liu Shishi and Ma Tianyu and airing in January, did so to validate its claims of the high-production quality of the series, showing that its filming is so clear that it holds on the big screen.
