Wei Chen and Hong Chen sings the theme song "Love Enchantment"

After collaborating for Singing in the Rain and Umbrella, Wei Chen and Hong Chen meets again for new MV “Love Enchantment,” the theme song for the upocming eeMedia- Huayi fantasy idol film Magic to Win. The film stars actor Wu Zun with the singers’ new eeMedia shimei Karena Ng.   Girl group iMe and singer-actress Tan Lina also makes an appearance as a magical volleyball team lead by My Own Swordsman’s Yan Ni.

Best of all, the MV is by director Peng Youwei, who headed the Super Girls 2011 video and stage crew and filmed the Baby Sister MV.  Despite its simplicity, it makes Wei Chen and Hong Chen look so good  that you’ll wish the entire MV was just them.   Watch it in HD below from  fountainpark723 @YouTube.

Following the fastbeat Daybreak, Wei Chen 魏晨 released his second MV for his new album. “Goodbye Goodbye” is a ballad with rap parts written by Wei Chen himself. The “Heartsore Story” cover shows his voice much better than most.

Both high-level managers from Korea’s CJ E&M and the head of eeMedia were present at the press conference for his new album, showing how much Wei Chen’s status in the company has grown since his last album. It’s no doubt, then, that this MV is one of Wei Chen’s best solo MV’s so far, and definitely better than anything eeMedia’s previous Korean partner, DoReMi (Top Combine MV’s) could come up with.

Wei Chen’s MV for Daybreak (Po Xiao) released

Look at how thin Wei Chen is for this first MV for his second album. Did you know he had to go to the hospital in the middle of filming for this MV because of overworking?

EeMedia choosing Korea’s CJ E&M over DoReMi (another Korean record label) was a great move. Although this MV was a tad flashy, it was much better than Top Combine’s two LED MVs (which if you didn’t guess, were produced by DoReMi). The music, dance and overall quality were great, and Wei Chen looked very shuai. Be sure to look for Wei Chen’s second single, which will come out soon!

Wei Chen performs new songs on MNET’s M!Countdown, sings with MBLAQ members

August 25, 2011 | Posted in Mainland China,Music, Tagged ,

Thanks to being the first eeMedia – CJ E&M (Korean media giant that owns MNET)  collaborative artist, singer-actor-composer Wei Chen first performed his new songs for his upcoming album on MNET”s M!Countdown. The two songs, one slow and one fast, visibly show the increased quality of Wei Chen’s second album over his almost indie first album. This marks not only an important step for Wei Chen, but also for his company eeMedia as its first collaboration with a Korean company other than Top Combine’s DoReMi, who’s not nearly good enough for eeMedia。  Some sources that his shimei, this year’s Super Girls Hong Chen and Liu Xin may also sign with CJ E&M, which’ll be awkward since Liu Xin had previously debuted under JYP.

Which performance do you like better? Fast song DayBreak or slow song Run Away with MBLAQ members?

Wei Chen joins forces with Korean company CJ E&M

Wei Chen brings together disparate forces for his upcoming album.

Can we first get a round of applause for not working with DoReMi (Top Combine/iMe’s Korean company that has nothing to offer…)?

Although eeMedia has previously worked with Korean labels, there’s hopes that they may venture into collaborations with other companies as singer Wei Chen becomes the first to work with Korean company CJ E&M, which owns both television channel MNET and search engine Daum. The singer, whose first album last year composed of songs by him and his friends, proved his ability and popularity last year when both the album and its songs became hits, with his self-composed insert song for Meteor Shower being one of the top 10 searched for songs of the year on Baidu.

Wei Chen, Lu Hu directs and films new MV “Gentle Memories”

June 16, 2011 | Posted in Mainland China,Music, Tagged ,

Is it just me or is this self-directed/filmed/edited MV much better than his other ballad MV in the album?

Directed, filmed and edited by Wei Chen and Lu Hu themselves, and composed by Lu Hu with lyrics by Wei Chen,  Wei Chen’s “Gentle Memories 温存记忆” MV was released as a birthday present from Wei Chen to Lu Hu. Althought it has been released for a while, the MV was never advertised as it’s not official.  Wei Chen is currently preparing for his second album and becoming way too thin from practicing for it.

P.S. someone on YouTube has recently uploaded English subbed MV’s of Wei Chen’s Disparate 千方百计 and I want to love 我想爱 from his last album. Yay for English subs!

In a recent episode of Glee/Gelivable Sunday, iMe and the male cast of Meteor Shower went to a police academy and played an exciting laser tag game in police costumes. In addition to the show being generally fun, the guys looked really hot in police outfits.

Meteor Shower II airs with 1st in viewership and new improvements

After high ratings for Meteor Shower, Meteor Shower II aired on August the 9th this year with an even high rating, gaining 1st place with 53 million viewers and 9.34% of the market share. Viewers also acknowledge the obvious improvements in production values, especially noticeable in second lead Yu Haoming’s hot new hairstyle, the cast’s more youthful outfits and a sleek new set.

Because of the success of the first Meteor Shower, the second Meteor Shower was highly anticipated way before it begun airing. Since two week ago, the drama was at the top of TV series searches on search engine Baidu, as are its leads Zhang Han, Zheng Shuang, Yu Haoming, Zhu Zixiao and Wei Chen.

Despite its high viewership, last year’s Meteor Shower was also prone to criticisms, especially about the sets and product placements. In the sequel, audiences found drastic changes to those two points. The sequel has less product placements, but much higher end ones such as China Bank. So despite a reduction in quality, the income from product placement actually increased.

Styling is also very different. Yu Haoming’s crazy hairdo went away, giving him a refreshing prince-like appearance. Also gone, too, are the suits of the lead males, now replaced by youthful outfits that fits their age. Along with the contemporary new sets, these changes won approval of many fans.

You can watch Meteor Shower II’s on YouTube here.

Vision Wei Chen for Disparate

Vision Wei Chen for Disparate

From the honey-sweet “Aiyiya” to shameless ‘Shameless,” from rnb “Longing” to autotoned “Disparate,”  entertainment company eeMedia  seem to be trying to covering all grounds this summer with its countless releases. Here’s a sample of eeMedia’s new releases, with a highlight on self-compositions, which as Wang Yuexin said, is something that every eeMedia artist needs to fit in. Most of the songs are available for download either in the cfensi download section or maypay. Aiyiya and Longing are both available for purchase on yesasia.

I have Missing is the only ballad in Chinese-Korean- German-Thai girlband iMe’s debut EP Aiyiya, and it’s beautifully composed by member Liu Meihan. She also composed Always Liked in the EP.

The album I’ll be looking forward to, as if it’s not obvious, will be Vision Wei Chen’s first album – “Disparate.” To be released on the 22nd, will contain two or three self-compositions, as well as at least two by bff and fellow Super Boy Lu Hu.
