Jiang Wen (Director and Actor of 'Let Bullets Fly') and Lead Actor Ge You, Star of all the Christmas Blockbusters
Living up to the anticipation, Jiang Wen’s Let the Bullets Fly took off with both critics and the public alike, with stellar reviews and a great than 9.2 rating at douban. It also took in a record box office. The first day tally was 30.18 million RMB, second to only Aftershock‘s opening, and its three day weekend tally was over 100 million RMB. Next week the film will get an additional release in Sichuanese dialect Mandarin.
Coincidentally, veteran actor Ge You, still one of the biggest box office draws in China, has a part in three of the big movies being released in theaters before the year ends. The first was the Orphan of Zhao, and next of the list is the sequel to the 2008 hit romantic comedy, If You Are the One with Shu Qi. This time they are joined by Yao Chen, Sun Honglei and Ady An. The first one broke box office records in China when it was released, and If You Are the One 2 is already making its own mark in history, by being the first film to simultaneously open in China and North America. It will premiere on Dec 2th, in 20 AMC and Cineplex Theatres in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Boston, Washington, D.C., Toronto, Vancouver and Ottawa.

Why so many sentimental posts all at once? I have no idea. Perhaps it was because Chinese Valentine’s day was just around the corner. I also feel a bit guilty that I rarely post anything on celeb’s personal lives (invasion of privacy), or their interviews (to lazy to translate). But the former reluctance isn’t necessary in this case, since these pics were from Yao Chen’s blog.
Yao Chen, achieved nationwide fame with “My Own Swordsman”, a satirical take on the wuxia genre, and cemented herself as a household name in China with “Lurk”. She most recently has a supporting role in the romantic comedy Sophie’s Revenge that should soon be making it’s way around the web (it’s already legally available on Sohu). After a busy first half of the year for her, she finally went on a small vacation with her husband of five years, Lin Xiaoshu, her classmate from Beijing Film Academy and showed that their love is as steady as ever.
After being inactive for half a year, Fusion will be back with a second album. When asked why the long absence, their company said that they’ve been concentrating on their next album which is reaching the end stages of its production. Now they’ll be starting performances again to warm up for their new release.
This is probably the best music news in this batch, the rest are just sad ones about company matters.
The Chinese/Taiwanese cast members of Sophie’s Revenge minus Fan Bingbing who was probably busy with one of her six upcoming movies, helped launch the official site for the movie yesterday.
Included on the websites is Sophie’s Revenge first teaser trailer. This was released at Cannes, and it did a pretty good job because the rights were sold to five countries. Although it’s not featured here, Cao Xuanbin will be writing the theme song. Can’t wait to see how will make it reflect the feel of this film.

A few more pictures from the launch and some new HQ stills from the movie below. The latter is my real reason for making this post.
This summer, fight for love. This is the tagline issued by the first poster for the romantic-comedy Sophie’s Revenge, officially proclaiming that the movie, even though still in post-production, is already entering into the promotional stage.
