Stills were released from The Horsemen, the Dennis Quaid thriller with Zhang Ziyi that was delayed and delayed, which usually means that the film is bad. This film is probably no exception, but you can check out the first look from it anyway.
Zhang Ziyi on the cover of South Korean Vogue Magazine
Weird…I thought that South Korea only got its first Korean star on Vogue’s cover last year when Song Hyegyo was on it, so what’s Zhang Ziyi doing on there? It’s odd timing too. The only new movie she has coming out soon is Mei Lan Fang and I didn’t think that would be the type to cross over to other countries, even other other Asian countries. Maybe it has something to be with her Chinese-South Korean joint production under CJ entertainment but that hasn’t even started filming. It’s just odd. More pictures here although they are only photos of the magazine, and they’re not very interesting. Photography by Oh Joong Seok.
A Drink is Worth a Thousand Words
It’s become a cliche that a picture is worth a thousand words but lately Chinese media have been going for a variation on that, trying to describe the future of two famous Chinese females, dominant in their respective spheres based on what and how they drink. Neither of these stories warrant a post in themselves, but I found it amusing when juxtaposed together. First rumors of a Zhang Ziyi pregnancy were flying around after she appeared on a talk show. Then at a banquet for the Mei Lan Fang cast and crew she was caught sipping wine putting an end to those rumors quickly. Later, in Japan, Guo Jingjing was photographed sipping away as well, which an entire article was published on how Guo Jingjing was so poised and looked to be settling in to her role as a trendsetting, socialite (in view of her pending marriage). Anyway, silly posts deserve silly polls…so vote!

Zhang Ziyi being patriotic again
While Zhang Ziyi fetches around 1.5 million RMB for an ad, lately ads have been appearing of advertising for a brand of cell phone, which netizens pointed out was not well-known and looked like a local band. Was Zhang Ziyi also a victim of the financial crisis? A reporter asked if she took a pay reduction for this ad, and a spokeswoman said, “Zhang Ziyi voluntarily offered to take a pay cut, in order to support local brands but the details of how much she received won’t be disclosed.”
Warning, this post goes horribly on tangent below from Hu Jintao to Janice Man to Chinese celebs having English names.
Zhang Ziyi will star with So Ji-sub in romantic comedy
The news here, obviously, is that Zhang Ziyi will be doing a romantic comedy. Earlier I mentioned how I liked Fan Bingbing because she wasn’t looking to build herself a repertoire of amazing, critically acclaimed films. I think Zhang Ziyi is who I was thinking about consciously or subconsciously when I said that.
Zhang Ziyi's New Flick
Zhang Ziyi who’s latest film, Mei Lang Fan is just wrapping up is apparently going to be a new film called “Sophie’s Revenge”, this time taking producing as well as acting. The film is going to be helmed by and “up and coming” Chinese director.
